Graduated from North Carolina University in 2013, with a major in Industrial Design. While at NC State, Megan was continuously on the Dean's List, active with the student chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America, and served as a student government senator. She enjoys coaching, playing volleyball and cooking. Megan wants to travel and further study the business and cultural components of design. She can see herself starting her own furniture line, running her own design firm or a number of other potential futures.

Annie Beuker

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Annie followed the furniture industry to High Point, NC, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Interior Design with a Spanish minor at High Point University in 2012. Annie received many awards in her final year in school including winning first place in the “Raymond Waites Design Competition” and the “Most Outstanding Senior Professional” award. While Annie has worked in Century Furniture’s showroom during college she really enjoyed her time being involved with the High Point Market every fall and spring. Annie is now a design consultant at Furnitureland South. She enjoys designing clients’ homes all across the country. Annie plans to sit for the NCIDQ and to grow her career in the home furnishings industry.

Rebekah graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in interior design. She plans to pursue a career in health care design creating functional, aesthetically pleasing hospitals and offices that help in the treatment and healing process. Her most recent internship was with FreemanWhite in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rebekah is a former member of the East Carolina University Track and Cross Country teams. She enjoys reading, traveling and any outdoor activities.

Jacob Blok

Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jacob developed a keen interest in design and craftsmanship. A growing interest in furniture led him to Kendall College’s furniture design program, where he graduated in 2013. Jacob participated in several student woodworking competitions throughout his college career. His goal is a career in the design and manufacturing of high-end, custom furniture. His other interests include time with friends and family, cooking, volunteering, camping, hiking, biking and fishing.

Chris graduated from Appalachian State University in May of 2009. He majored in Industrial Design with a concentration in Furniture Studies and received a minor in Business. Throughout college he spent his summers interning for Turner Construction and Midhattan Woodworking which are both located outside of NYC. He has been working full time with Turner Construction as an engineer or superintendent overseeing trades like architectural woodworking, furniture, wood floors, interior stone, and specialty floors. Because he is exposed to a lot of design, furniture, and woodworking in his current position, Chris tries to use his spare time to enjoy his hobby of designing and building custom furniture.

Yanxin Chen

Graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2004 with a BFA degree and an emphasis in furniture design. Today, Yanxin works as a design director for Fairmont Designs in Buena Park, CA. His goals include building relationships in business and increasing the creativity in his work. Yanxin credits the Celia Moh Scholarship with adding credibility to his professional talents and with helping him make strong connections in the furniture industry.

Carrie Gillispie Cox

Carrie graduated from High Point University majoring in Furniture Marketing. She is currently a wholesale and retail interior designer with Furniture Brands. She designs stores and showrooms, including everything from the floor and paint to furniture and POP materials. Carrie also does residential work on the side, partnering with a contractor for “turn-key” custom homes. She designs floor plans and interiors, and acts as a homeowner liaison during the construction phase. She loves the retail sector of the furniture industry and has really found her niche there.

He aspires to work with a North Carolina furniture manufacturer and discover how eCoupled technology might be used in the furniture world. Will enjoys spending his free time outdoors, especially on the water.

Jennifer Gates

A native of Cleveland, Mississippi, graduated from Mississippi State University majoring in Interior Design and minoring in General Business Administration. Jennifer served as an Ambassador and was a Dean Council member for MSU’s College of Architecture, Art and Design. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and participated in numerous interior design competitions. Jennifer was also a member of various honor societies including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Kappa Phi, Order of Omega, Sigma Alpha Lambda and many others. Jennifer hopes to continue her education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Design.

A graduate of Mississippi State University in April 2011, Rebecca is the designer for Create Architects in Tuscumbia, AL. Working in Tuscumbia allows Rebecca to stay close to home while gaining experience in residential, commercial, healthcare, retail, and higher education design. Rebecca plans to gain all the experience she can at Create Architects and sit for the NCIDQ exam in order to become a registered Interior Designer in the state of Alabama.

She appreciates the European zest for life and rich history. Kendall enjoys practicing socially responsible design, "always remembering that human interaction and behavior is at the center of good design." She is currently employed as an interior designer for a commercial architect.

She also plans to pursue an architectural license and work with international design and architectural firms in hope of helping design sustainable medical facilities in impoverished Spanish-speaking countries.

Brian Harris

Brian graduated from Appalachian State University receiving a degree in Industrial Design with a focus in Product Design. He currently works for Techtronic Industries in the Advanced Concept Engineering group doing early-end investigation and implementation of new technologies and concepts. He is an active member of the Industrial Designers Society of America and is currently a Vice Chair for the IDSA Carolinas chapter, representing South Carolina. In his down time, Brian can often be found racing sailboats on Lake Hartwell with the Western Carolina Sailing Club, chasing sunsets on his motorcycle, or tinkering behind the lens of a camera.

Amy graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Interior Design. Following graduation she joined Lane Venture as a sales trainee and retail designer and then moved to Lexington Home Brands as their upholstery merchandiser. In May 2013 she joined upholstery manufacturer Wesley Hall as their marketing and media director. She married in 2008 and enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and, depending on the season, mountain biking or skiing with her husband. Amy also became a mother on September 19, 2012 to a daughter, Harper.

Lisa graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2006 with a BFA in Furniture Design and a minor in Industrial Design. After designing and managing the team at Keeler, Lisa shifted gears in 2012 to direct design for Eco-Systems, a sustainable trade show exhibit manufacturer. Promoting green, designing exhibit furniture and learning about new materials and possibilities has kept her design fresh.

For the past two years Carl has worked as a furniture and product designer for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a High Point-based furniture and accessories company. The designs he has completed for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams have been featured in Elle Décor, Country Living, and House Beautiful. Carl is looking forward to advancing his knowledge of the upholstery industry and makes time to pursue his hobby of rock climbing.

After graduation, she completed an interior design internship and accepted a full-time position as an interior designer for La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries. She worked there for three years and has recently started a new position as a junior designer for Barbour Spangle Design in High Point, NC. She is extremely excited about this opportunity and looks forward to growing her career there. She also joined ASID as an allied member and is now the Triad Design Community Chair.

A graduate of East Carolina University, Irina holds a summa cum laude degree in Interior Design and makes her home in New Bern, NC. After working for a furniture company in High Point, NC and commercial design firm in Greenville, NC, Irina is now the owner of a successful interior design business, ISK Design Group, LLC. Irina’s portfolio of design work includes many residential projects, as well as medical and business facilities. Irina continues her passion for furniture and product design and includes many custom-made interior components in her projects.

Suzanne graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in May, 2008 with a BFA degree and an emphasis in furniture design. Suzanne held an internship position with Paula Scott Unlimited, a Grand Rapids, MI-based product licensing firm for her senior year. Her work with Paula Scott Unlimited has given Suzanne a broad range of design skills including ceramics and lighting design, furniture design and rendering. In 2007 one of Suzanne’s designs was selected to appear in an exhibition of Kendall’s student designers at the Dubai International Office Furniture Show. Suzanne is excited to work in the furniture industry and brings real enthusiasm to each project.

For the last two years Thor has worked as a furniture designer at Via Design, Inc., a Grand Rapids, MI. based interior and product design firm. Thor is a Pinnacle award winner and comes to the furniture industry with a firm grasp on his design philosophy. When asked to describe his goals Thor said, “I am a firm believer that good design happens when experienced and cooperative professionals from a diverse pool of talents challenge one another within an energetic atmosphere."

Peter is the principal of Profile – Peter Jacob the Grand Rapids, MI-based freelance design firm he started in July 2007. Profile – Peter Jacob is a fresh and growing firm specializing in hands on design practices and is expanding to meet the needs of the diverse clients it serves. Peter remains active at Kendall and serves as president of the Kendall College of Art and Design Alumni Board of Directors and seeks to promote internships and development opportunities through his efforts.
