Skylar Davis

A senior at High Point University, majoring in interior design, Skylar is a member of Delta Mu Delta honors business fraternity and an interior design tutor through the University’s Academic Service Center.  She is also a supplemental instructor for the school’s drafting class, mentoring sophomores in the program. 

Andrew Golombisky

Andrew is studying furniture design at Kendall College of Art and Design with aspirations of working with a freelance design firm following graduation.  He hopes to incorporate travel with his career, possibly working with oversees manufacturers.  In his spare time he enjoys cooking a variety of foods, playing basketball and enjoying music.

Jessica Henderson

With an eye towards becoming either a showroom designer or furniture designer, Jessica, a junior, is studying in the home furnishings program at High Point University.  She enjoys swimming, playing soccer and rearranging her furniture. 

Trenton Huffines

Studying Industrial Design at North Carolina State University, Trent is concentrating on furniture designs that are economical and environmentally friendly.  He serves as the marketing and interior design intern for the University’s distance education department, DELTA.  An avid outdoorsman, Trent likes to backpack, camp, and hike as well as sail and surf.

Lyndsey Kraynock

In addition to finishing up her course work for a double major in interior design and business marketing, Lyndsey is an ECU Ambassador which allows her to work closely with East Carolina’s Alumni Association, the Admissions Office and the University’s Chancellor. She recently interned with Charlotte Cabinets and hopes to gain an internship in furniture marketing before graduation. After graduation, she hopes to find a position within the industry that will allow her to travel domestically or internationally.

Anne Michener

Anne enjoys traveling, running, and attending ECU sporting events. She enjoys volunteering for various organizations, especially for the Rebuilding Together organization in Greenville. Anne also serves her campus community as a member of the ECU student chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and as the secretary for the school’s Rotaract Club. She has work experience with Henredon Furniture Industries as well as Kitchen and Bath Galleries in Cary, NC.

Michael H. Owings

As a senior and president of Appalachian State University’s IDSA student chapter, Hugh spends his free time entering design challenges, riding motorcycles, and relaxing with friends. He is also a member of the Black Valley Design Collective. Hugh tells us that in the future he sees himself becoming a team member of a design firm and that, eventually, he would like to design furniture and other home products that push the envelope of current design trends.

Irina Skalova

In addition to spending time with her two children, Irina enjoys reading about the history of art and visiting museums and galleries. Her other interests are in painting, drawing and decorative arts and she enjoys participating in local charity fund raisers by decorating banquet halls and donating her original art work for auction events. After completing her degree at East Carolina University she plans to pursue a career in product development or furniture design.

Joel Valente

At Appalachian State University, Joel has thrown himself head first into the design program. He has entered numerous student competitions and was a finalist in the AWFS competition in Las Vegas and placed third in ASU’s chair design competition. Joel aspires to work for a North Carolina-based manufacturer’s in-house design team or an independent design firm.

Katherine Watts

Katherine is a senior at Appalachian State where she spends her spare time with art projects and working with kids. She has been a camp counselor for the last three summers. After completing her degree, Katherine looks forward to working in the home furnishings industry in a position that will allow her to focus on sustainability and environmentally sensitive products and processes.
